Life as a mum changes you. It has to.
Whereas before you had all kinds of time and energy to focus on you, all of a sudden you have absolutely NONE. Your focus is entirely on your little person / people, because quite frankly it has to be.
I was that mum (pre-kids) who said ‘What has to change when the baby comes along…we can still do XY and Z… just WITH the baby!’ How I look back and laugh at my naivety.
Whether you are a stay at home mum or a working mum; a mum of 1 or a mum of 4; whether you are a single parent or in a relationship; a mum to an additional needs child or not….Motherhood is the hardest job on the planet. On some days it can suck you dry.
The problem is that little people, need lots of things daily. Literally. This leaves very little time left in your life for anything else. Romance, relaxation, restoration, fun, passion… grown up stuff. Of course you can have a great time with your kids, but let’s face it, mummy needs a bit of ‘me’ time too before her head wobbles off her shoulders.
However finding the time or energy to commit to something new (and stick to it) or even work out what you want, is daunting at the very least. Let alone the logistics around how you will actually do it. Overwhelm and a sense of feeling stuck in the life you’ve created are usually the result.
So what can you do?
Realise that you can do this, but in fact, you can not do it alone. Us mums are tough. We are used to multi-tasking it all to try and achieve it all, but actually, sometimes when you reach out and ask for help, it’s a revelation. To feel supported, nourished, encouraged and motivated by another person is sometimes all you need to make the change.
Sometimes you need to take a step back and get clarity, in order to re-focus, re-define and re-invent your life. This is where I can help with the Magic Life Makeover Month
